Mountain Home

I want to live in the mountains

Live in a place up high

Where there’s nothin’ to bring me down

And above me only sky

I want to live in the country

Where I can breathe the air

And feel that soft gentle breeze

Blowin’ through my hair

And I wonder

When I’ll be there

And I wonder

Who I will share it with

I want to live in the forest

Among the shades of green

Where every tree is a friend of mine

And my life flows like a stream

I want to live by a river

And hear it rushing by

Feel those clear crystal waters

Make me come alive

And I wonder

 When I’ll be there

And I wonder

Who I will share it all with

Here I am tryin’ to make this dream come true

Where people don’t take the time to even look at you

And in their eyes I see they’re livin’ their lives in fear

I don’t know how they can go on like this year after year

And everyday I ask myself what am I doin’ here

Sometimes I think back to the mountains

To a time I felt so free

Where there was nothin’ more important to do

Than to simply be

I remember walking the mountains

And how it made me sing

On days so clear I could see forever

And felt part of everything

And I wonder

 When I’ll be there

And I wonder

Who I will share my life with

Here I am still tryin’ to make it real

Where people only talk to you if they’re wantin’ to make a deal

And everyone keeps too busy to allow themselves to feel

I can’t see myself livin’ like this year after year

With each passing day I ask myself what am I doin’ here

I often reflect on the mountains

And the spectacular scenery

How it was there I met myself

And began to see

I still hear the call of the mountains

And the magic of the high country

Where there’s so much yet to explore

And I feel at peace

Someday I’ll return to the mountains

To a place I can call my own

I just gotta find the trail

That’ll lead me home

And I wonder

 When I’ll be there

And I wonder

Who I will share my love with
